Curriculum

Ideally, our International B.B.A. Program in Hotel and Tourism Management can be completed by studying full-time over a four-year academic period. During the first two years of study, international students will fulfill their general education, information technology, and language degree requirements. During the third and fourth years of study, international students complete their core coursework and electives as well as obtain professional work experience.

In total, international students must complete successfully 137 credits of coursework to graduate. Highly motivated prospective international students who wish to condense and/or accelerate their degree studies should discuss this option with our program director. In terms of information concerning degree credit(s) earned elsewhere, please read the section of this brochure entitled transfer credits. Please consult our program’s most recent catalog for further details. Do not hesitate to consult our program director concerning any of these or related matters.

During your four (4) years of study in the International Program, you will sharpen your leadership skills, become digitally literate, significantly improve your English and/or foreign language proficiency, and master the interpersonal, technical, and conceptual skills demanded by the trend-setting firms within the hospitality industry both locally and internationally for their supervisory and managerial personnel.

Quality Assurance

In order to prepare our International program graduates to compete effectively locally and globally, we can assure our prospective and current students the following:

  • English will be used as the sole medium of instruction for all courses within the international program.
  • Only native speakers of English, and where appropriate speakers of other foreign languages, will be employed to teach language as well as content area courses.
  • Instructional staff will have high expectations for international students encouraging active learning, critical thinking, reflective practice, and service leadership.
  • Curricular objectives and instructional tasks will emphasize a “guided design” approach. Instructional content and processes are relevant and immediately applicable to the hospitality industry; stimulate students desire to learn; excite students to inquire in a self-directed, disciplined fashion; and meet international students’ short term and long term professional goals.
  • Cultural integrity and diversity are our guiding principles. Our program’s international students are drawn from many countries of the world, including, but not limited to: Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Germany, India, Japan, Nepal, Pakistan, The People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, and Thailand. This creates a stimulating atmosphere for intercultural communications and international education.
